Gaeta is a coastal city in southern Lazio, set on a rocky headland that curves around the Gulf of Gaeta on the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its historic centre of narrow lanes and stairways sits between the harbour and long sandy beaches, with the hill of Monte Orlando rising behind.
